Last Booster Meeting of the School Year.
Posted by Roger on Friday, March 20, 2009 @ 11:54 AM -0400
The last booster meeting of the school year was held last night Thursday 3/19/09. All uniforms and warm-ups appear to have been collected. There is one missing varsity sweat bottom. These will go into storage until next season. Fund raising was discussed for next season. We will look into changing the format of the FS tournament and adding a JV tournament to increase snack bar sales which this year was the second largest producer of income for the boosters. Also discussed was the purchase of CHS soccer gear items for the parents and fans for next year. Lastly we discussed the "show support" contribution by families to the booster program. It was a consensus that a few adjustments are needed in the terminology and responsibilities. The boosters anticipate a slight increase in the donation and an additional responsibility in the volunteerism to offset decreased sells in the See's Candy fund raiser program and a possible loss of two large donators due to financial uncertainty in the economic community as a result of the fiscal crises ongoing in America. Basically we will be asking more from the parents to help finance the CHS soccer program and maintain the family atmosphere that has been the cornerstone of the program. Coach FBO has maintained a highly competitive program during his tenure and we intend to support his endeavors. We also will be looking to fill some vacancies created by graduating senior s' parents moving on to the easy life.

Season Comes to an End

Game Highlights

The Claremont Boys Varsity Soccer Team played a very good Loyola team to a 0-0 tie in regulation play and through two 10 minute over time periods before losing in a shoot out. Claremont out played Loyola getting three quality shots on goal to one. Had any of the three shots fallen CHS would be heading on to the third round this Friday. But it was not to be. Claremont has nothing to apologize for playing the number four seed Loyola to a 0-0 tie for CHS's 13th shutout of the season. With all of that said the CHS Booster Club would like to put out a THANK YOU to the community for the great support of the team and for a fine support at the home playoff game. I heard many old timers say that they had never seen as many people as there was at Wednesdays game before. The Booster Club would like to think Football at Claremont is now spelled FUTBOL and would like to think that it has arrived in Claremont.
The Future looks bright for the next couple of years for CHS Soccer (FUTBOL). The Varsity will return seven players next year. The JV won the Baseline League with a record of 7-0-3 and the Freshman were co-champions of the Baseline league at 4-0-2.
The group of Seniors that are graduating from CHS participaing in a Claremont program that has produced 60 soccer game victories in the past four years. This year seniors graduating are: Jordan Fisher, Jeff Lopez, DJ Ikeda, Ben Brint, Sebastian Haus, Ross Poole, Spencer Eckert, Jeremy Andrade, Robin Morales, Logan Fuentes, Erik Guntner, Adam Byrne, and Kory Alverado. Thank you all for four great years of CHS soccer.

Claremont ends the 2008-09 season at 16-8-2 recording 13 shutouts scoring 46 goals and allowing 22. Claremont was led in scoring by senior Jordan Fisher with 11 goals and junior Ryan Connor with 10. Jordan also led the team in assists with 13 followed by junior Riley Hernandez with seven. Claremont will return seven players from the 08/09 squad in midfielder/forward Riley Hernandez, midfielders Scott Donaldson and Garett Hill, Defenders Griffin Easter, Ryan Connor and David Standerfer and keeper Brent Coble. There are many fine players in the program that will be competing to fill the void of the 14 graduating seniors.

Next Up for CHS is Loyola AT CHS 3:00 PM
Posted by on Saturday, February 21, 2009 @ 3:21 AM -0500
With Loyola's victory 2-0 over Simi Valley (Marmonte #4) Loyola will play @ Claremont HS on Wednesday 2-25-09 time TBD. We are shooting for 5:30 PM so all can come from both teams to watch the game instead of the 3 PM CIF is suggesting. We will update when we know for sure. Loyala has recorded 13 shutouts and have been held scoreless only 3 times. They are the Mission League #1 team finishing the season at 17-4-5. They beat Simi Valley (Mamonte #4) 2-0 on Friday to advance to the second round. Common opponent is Damien who Loyala lost to 2-1 on 12-15-08. CHS played Damien twice winning 1-0 and 2-0. They have lost only once in their last 13 games. They have scored 50 goals and have given up only 17. They won the South Tourance Tournament and participated in the Nike Showcase and the So Cal Soccer Showcase games. Sounds like another close battle for CHS, a game that you will not want to miss. Plan to come to the game. The snack bar will be open. The booster club will feed you for a small fee, all you have to do is scream your bloody head off.

Claremont is now 16-7-2. Claremont won the Upland Tournament and finished third in the Baseline League. Claremont beat Agoura HS@ Agoura 3-2 to advance to the second round of the Division 1 CIF Playoffs.

CHS wins first Round Playoff Game!
Posted by Roger on Friday, February 20, 2009 @ 11:31 PM -0500
Game Highlights

CHS boys come back from 0-2 to win 1st round CIF playoff game against high scoring Agoura HS 3-2. After falling behind 0-2 CHS had three consecutive goals in the second half to win a hard fought battle. Goals by Robin Morales, Ryan Connor, and Jordan Fisher in the 2nd half propels CHS into round 2 which will be played on Wednesday 2/25 against the winner of the Simi Valley - Loyola game played today. Agoura came into the contest having scored 68 goals on the season and showed promise with two excellent powerful shots for goals, but they had cracks in their defense giving up three unanswered goals late in the second half for their first loss in eight games ending their season at 13-8-6. Claremont is now 16-7-2 on the year. Coach FBO pulls his magic by substituting injured player Riley Hernandez on a throw in with Robin Morales. Robin in the game for all of 5 seconds scores CHS's first goal in the 68th minute off a throw in by Jordan Fisher that was deflected by Sencer Eckert's head to Robin's head for the goal. Later in the half on a throw in Jordan Fisher reached Ryan Connor's head once more to even the game at 2-2.Then wiht time running out Riley Hernandez crossed a passed in front of the goal to an oncoming Jordan Fisher for the winning goal.

The most amazing thing about the game is that all of the Agoura players dyed their hiar the same color as our goalie Brent Coble. It was a game of clones. Also JV leading scoring Parker Langdon got his first varsity start of the season, playing five solid minutes in the second half, The CHS bench and fans did their part by cheering loudly and a great thank you to Agoura school district for providing the metal bleacher noise makers.

Posted by Roger on Thursday, February 12, 2009 @ 12:17 AM -0500
Claremont Boys Varsity team qualifies for CIF by finishing 3rd in the Baseline League. At the time of this post it appears Upland HS will take the 1st seed, Alta Loma will be the 2nd seed, and Claremont the #3. Last year the Div 1 Playoff bracket took 34 teams with four teams brought in as At-large teams, which then did battle for the right to play the two top rated teams. This year the Sierra League has been dropped to Divsion 2. CHS has been pitted with a Sierra opponent in the first round the last two of three seasons, this year will be different. The CIF brackets will come out on Monday 2/16/09. We will post a link here to the CIF brackets.

Division 1 consists of the following Leagues: (last year there were 10 leagues in Div 1)

Baseline, Bay, Mamonte, Mission, Moore, Sea View, South Coast, Sunset, & Trinity.

The latest poll dated 2/9/09 for Divsion 1 is as follows:

1. El Toro (1st Sea View) 2. Milikan (1st Moore) 3. JSierra (T1st Trinity)
4. Loyola (1st Mission) 5. Mater Dei (T1st Trinity) 6. Esperanza (1st Sunset)
7. Mira Costa (1st Bay) 8. St. Francis (3rd Mission) 9. Los Alamitos (2nd Sunset)
10. Alisa Niguel (3rd South Coast) 10. Crespi (2nd Mission)

Triple Header played on Monday 2/9
Posted by Roger on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 @ 12:12 AM -0500
The CHS soccer team due to some harsh weather conditons earlier in the day lined up all three teams to play back to back to back on the all weather field at CHS. The JV played first at 3:15 knocking off the Los Osos JV 1-0 on the loan goal Guiseppi Escobar. The win gives CHS JV 1st place in the Baseline League Standings with one game to go.

Video of Game: CHS vs Los Osos scores

CHS JV are in first place with one game to go:

The Varsity team followed at 5:15 winning it's game 3-0. CHS scored in the 13th minute on DFK by Jeff Lopez from 35 yards out. In the second half on a throw by Jordan Fisher to Ryan Connor for a header that rolled passed the goalie. And later in the half on a fine passing combination Riley Hernandez scored his first goal of the season off a fine pass from Jordan Fisher. It was Senior's Night and a short ceremony congratulating the 14 seniors that have played for CHS for the past four years. This was possilby their last home game. With the win CHS 6-3 in league retains second place for the playoffs.

FS team isCo-Baseline League Champions

The FS team followed the varsity game at 7:00 PM. CHS and Los Osos were tied going into the game both undeafed in league play and both tied for first. Their last meeting resulted in a 0-0 tie. Unfortunetely Los Osos scored first before half. Midway through the second half CHS scored off a DFK where the kicker Daniel Kim instead of slamming the ball through the wall set by Los Osos passed to his left to an oncoming Denes Kantor with a more direct shot for the goal. Late in the second half CHS had a scoring opportunity but a fine play by Los Osos defense saved the game where the two teams ended the game tied 1-1 and tied for the Baseline League Championship.

Scores of Chino & Damien Game

Claremont Varsity (9-3-1) wins Upland Tournament against San Joaquian Memorial Fresno (8-5) 2-0. A fine team effort with outstanding defense, midfield play, and keeper play kept Memorial off of their game. The first score occured in the 18th minute on a throw in by Jordan Fisher to Ryan Connor's head to make it 1-0 at half. The second half of play was very physical and the crowd was loud. A penalty was called against Memorial in the 78th minute of play giving Claremont a DFK just near the right corner flag. Sebastian Haus delivered a ball to Ryan Connor's head for the score making it 2-0 in favor of CHS. Coach Fred says it was the 2000/2001 season the last time CHS won the Upland Tournament. The Claremont FS team also had an outstanding tournament making it to the Final against
Damien. Damien scored on set play in the 10th minute to take an early lead. Both teams
played very sound technical soccer the rest of the way and had several good scoring chances.
However, both goal keepers came up with key saves in the second half to prevent anymore
scoring, which preserved a 1-0 win for Damien. The FS Wolfpack boys were presented with
a large 2nd place trophy and congratulated for a very impressive two days of soccer.
